Home Energy Assistance Program
HEAP
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program through New York State to help families with their energy needs. If you are having trouble paying your bill, HEAP might be able to help you. You must meet certain qualifications to be eligible for a benefit.
The HEAP office is typically open from November until March for regular allowances and January thru March for emergency benefits or until funds are exhausted. The basic benefit starts at $675 for propane delivery.
The HEAP Office has reopened as of January 1, 2026 and is now accepting applications for emergency benefits.
